Brief Summary:

1st Carlingford Scouts organise Group Canoe Day. We will paddle along Hawkesbury River and develop basic paddling skills to advanced paddling skills, depending on your experience. A Guide supervises this event. In addition to the paddling and water activities, we will organise a range of ground activities and games in which everyone can participate. The group will organise a BBQ lunch and award presentation.

Additional Information

Group Canoe Day will present Joeys/Cubs/Scouts/Venturers/Leaders with knowledge and skill development opportunities for OAS Paddling stage 1-5 progressions and collect evidence for inland flat-water canoe or kayak qualifications (Safe Participant, Trained Participant).
Also, parents can enjoy Canoeing on the Hawkesbury River and develop paddling skills.

Please ensure you bring the following:

Water shoes/old shoes,
Water bottle,
Snacks,
Appropriate clothing (this is paddling in spring)

We will practise capsizing/swimming in the river for those who wish to develop advanced paddling skills.
The event cancellation triggers are severe thunderstorms, flooding, high winds, and heavy rain.
Swimming skills and experience are recommended. If unsure, please get in touch with the activity coordinator.

Canoes / Paddles / PFD`s supplied as needed.
