Bearskin

Bearskin is a lightweight self-catered competition camp with bases being run by Scouts for patrols of Venturers and Rovers.

Patrols are to be between 4-6 people. Patrols must be either all under 18, or all 18 and over. No mixed patrols of adults and youth members. The Venturers/ Rovers need to carry all their needs for the weekend in their packs to their camp-site on arrival. They should be aiming for no more than 20% of their body weight in their packs. They will be packing up each day, and carrying gear all weekend between bases and camp. Please bring your water for the weekend. Venturers/ Rovers need to utilise the Patrol System to the best of their ability and remember their Scout Law at all times. Sun Safe is a must - this means collared shirts and hats.

Scouts will be scoring and running the activities. Scouts attending and running bases need to have unit council permission, have reached milestone 1 and have stage 3 in their OAS core areas of bushwalking, camping and bushcraft. They need to be able to run the bases and be very independent, as the adults are there to supervise the youth leading the activities.

All adult helpers will need to be registered as an Adult Helper and have a cleared WWCC prior to registering for camp. Please speak with your Unit or Group Leader if you need help doing this. All adults (apart from approved carers) will be assigned a role, which may include helping to deliver activities, sites & services or providing support to the event. Due to the nature of this activity and Scouts Youth Protection procedures, no carers or adults are able to walk around with competing patrols.

To help patrols get into the spirt of the weekend we encourage costumes and coming in theme. The theme choosen by the Venturers is "food" Please get into the spirit of the weekend and theme your patrol and bases accordlingly. Bonus points will be awarded for patrols in costume.
