Brief Summary:
Do you want to learn more about Leadership and yourself? Then think Basic Scout Leadership Course. Preferably no more than 3 Scouts per Group. The purpose of this course is for the members of the Scout Section to train and develop their leadership skills, particularly as they apply to their possible role as a PL within the Troop. Course Eligibility: To be eligible to attend this course and benefit from the training, a Scout should: · be at least Twelve and a half years of age; · consulted their Unit Council; · display an attitude that they are doing their best to keep the Scout Promise and Law; · be willing to participate fully in the course program; · have endorsement of the Unit Council and Scout Leader; · have a Scout Leader willing to attend the weekend with them. -Scouts will be camping outside the Scout Hall, so tent, sleeping bag, pillow, camp clothes for the weekend, full uniform, personal hygiene gear, towel and mess kits. Other equipment required is pens note book/paper,1 or 2 newspapers, and a great attitude. No thongs or sandals permitted. Please bring a hat and sunscreen. Places are limited and it is asked that Leaders attend with Scouts. Leaders will be asked to assist over the weekend

Activity Overview.

The Course runs from Friday evening 14th July, with check-in from 18:00 and will conclude at 14:00 Sunday 16th April.

The weekend will be catered from Friday night supper and bring own camping needs including mess kit.

Scouts will be placed into Patrols and will undertake a series of Leadership challenges.

The BSLC is a Sun Safe event and all participants are expected to wear a broad brim hat (not a cap) and collared shirt.

Any member who doesn’t follow rules and obey the Scout Law will miss out on Activities and could possibly be sent home.

Who should come?

Senior Scouts who are ready and willing to participate as determined by their Unit Council.

No more than 3 Scouts per Group, unless the capped number of 24 is not met.

Leaders who have Scouts attending.

Camping.

Need to supply own camping and mess kit

Membership Requirements

All members must remain financial and registered within Scout Link from the time applications close until the end of the event.

We are excited to be running the BSLC again and hope that you will join us for this weekend. However as with all activities currently being planned for now and into the future, we need to take into account the evolving situation with the COVID-19 Pandemic. This means that there will be changes to how we run the BSLC this year, up to and including having to cancel this event at short notice. Please regularly check back to this page where we will provide any updates on how COVID will affect our ability to run the course.
