The focus of this weekend is youth to progress in their overnight OAS skills, and getting some experience before they venture out to do their adventurous journey.
Scouts/Venturers/Leaders will need to bring all they need for a overnight hike, equipment sharing is advised but not a necessity as it's a good training opportunity. The hike will be around 15km for the two days, we will be camping in a National Park. All participants must be able to carry everything you need (including food). Water will be available at campsites - but participants should carry atleast 2 liters per day.
We will be meeting on the corner of Loftus Road and McQuires Crossing Road, Belmore River, participants will need to bring a compass as you will be required to plot your course using a topographic map to the campground. You will be camping at Hungry Gate Campground, water will be available for top up of drink bottles, next day we will be hiking to the General Store at Hat Head for pickup.
