Brief Summary:
The 1st Carlingford Scout Section organised this Six Foot Track Hike (3 Days, 2 Nights) to support a scout completing his Adventurous Journey for the Australian Scout Award. Please note the activity is planned and led by a youth working for the Peak Award. The Six Foot Track was originally a bridle trail from Katoomba to the Jenolan Caves and is now a walking trail of 44.3 kilometres. Participants travel from Katoomba to Jenolan Caves during the Easter long weekends. Scouts and Ventures are welcome; however, previous lightweight camping, bushwalking experience, and good fitness are required. Bushwalking OAS Stage 3 and above is recommended. The $ 20 Camping fee is non-refundable.
Additional Information

The Route:

  • Day 1: Katoomba to Coxs River Camping Ground (appx. 15 km)
  • Day 2: Coxs River Camping Ground and Black Range Camping Ground (appx. 18 km)
  • Day 3: Black Range Camping Ground to Jenolan Caves (appx. 11 km)

The event will present Scouts with knowledge and skill development opportunities for OAS Bushwalking stage 4-5 progressions. Develop confidence in Bushwalking activities.

This activity is not for novice bushwalkers.

Good fitness and bushwalking skills will be a requirement to join the event.

This event is supervised by an Adventure Activity Guide.

Leaders will get an opportunity to collect evidence for Track and Difficult Track Bushwalking qualifications (Safe Participant, Trained Participant). Since the activity is planned and led by a Scout, leaders and adults will not intervene but walk 50m behind the Scout patrol.
