This activity is an a chance for Joeys and cub to try canoeing in a controlled environment.
We will using canoes, kayaks. Each participant will be wearing a PFD (personal flotation device).
Participants do not have to be able to swim 50m but it is highly recommended that participants have had swimming lessons as they will be entering the water
The activity this year is run in 1.5 hour sessions over four sessions.
Groups are to attend in their session and places are limited.
Leaders are to attend with their group.
Parents are encouraged to participate and must stay for joeys, parents must register and must have a valid WWCC.
it is expected that all participants will get wet.
The sessions are staggered to allow participants time to arrive and depart.
Attendees will only be able to participate in their nominated timeslot.
A separate event has been setup for helpers attending over the day. Scout and above helpers are encouraged to attend to gain skills on the water.
The activity is supervised by multiple activity guides at all times.
Participants must wear -
Appropriate clothing for the temperature/weather and be ready to get wet
Enclosed footwear - at all times when in the water wear either water shoes or old shoes that can get wet. Crocs or thongs are not acceptable.
Participants must bring -
water bottle and snacks
Suncreen, hat
Towel
Change of clothes.
There are no toilets on site, hence staggering of the event.
