Safeguarding Children (Child Safety Officer) training - Online

Youth Safe Advocates will be trained in becoming Child Safety Officers. Once this training is complete, the YSA's will be responsible for training those persons within their Regions who were unable to attend the initial workshops and to undertake reviews of their local groups at least yearly to ensure child safe procedures and principles are maintained. The specific objectives of this workshop would be:

• Develop insight into the potential risks to children in organisations
• Understand the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations
• Outline the Australian Child Safety legislative landscape
• Recognise the importance of building a Child Safe Culture
• Explore the role of a Safeguarding Child Safety Officer at Scouts NSW
• Learn how to recognise and respond to Child Abuse
• Discuss the reporting obligations of Scouts NSW Child Safety Officers in relationship NSW Legislation
• Provide guidance on what to do if a child makes a safeguarding report
