Brief Summary:
Thinking about bike packing through Europe? Experience Sydney’s best cycle paths in a Euro-style bike packing adventure. Stripy shirts, and baguettes are de jour
Additional Information

No bike? No problem - we have heaps you can borrow. Let me know.

Cycling around Europe is a fantastic and cheap way of travelling. If you have ever thought about cycle touring and wanted to get started, this is the trip for you. Also, a big bonus, is the complete lack of mountains in Sydney.

We will be riding from Parramatta to Cronulla via Kurnell, which is about 50 kilometres over the two days. The riding will be gentle, slowish (what’s the rush?!), and generally very flat. We will camp at a scout hall – hopefully Ramsgate Scout Hall. We will start at a train station and finish at the train station (hopefully there will be no track works that weekend).

So we don’t miss out on all the great things about Euro-style bike packing we will:

  • Visit some ruins
  • Go to a gallery
  • Sample cheeses and “wine” (the best sparkling apple and grape juices I can find in Woolies)
  • Go to a beach where there are no waves (like the Mediterranean)
  • Go to a beach where there are waves
  • See some public art (you can’t avoid the stuff!)
  • View some beautiful natural environments – it is actually a quite pretty ride!
  • Camp out

There will be an online planning meeting that you need to attend to plan what you need. But generally, you will need:

  • A bike
  • A helmet
  • Camping equipment
  • A way to stick your stuff to the bike

If you want a truly authentic Euro bike packing experience you can get a random bike from the South Met bike library and ride on that (most people buy a cheap bike in the city they land in)

Later in the year I will be running a 3-day MTB bike packing adventure. Come to this trip if you want to get some practice in.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
