Brief Summary:
Intermediate level overnight hike in Budawangs National Park. Distance approx 13km each day. Extensive views and camping in a camping cave. Prefer arrival at start location on Friday evening due to driving distance (or Sat morning very early drive to arrive on time).
Additional Information

For most people, this hike is easy to moderately physically demanding, involving some assents and descents on a (grade 4) tracked route. If it is sunny you can see the coast which is more than 30km away from Corang Peak. This is our first visit to this area following the extensive bushfires which raised the area several years ago.

Cost = $10.00 for youth and adult members. No cost for supporting Guides

Arrival time: Friday. 27th Sept. Activity Guide will be at the Wog Wog campsite from 6pm. We are camping near the cars on Friday night at the Wog Wog Camp site OR Saturday 28th Sept: Meeting NO later than 8am at Wog Wog Camping area carpark which is a non-preferred option. We can NOT wait for you if you are running late.

Finish Time. Variations in party size, walking rate, weather etc, may have an effect on the finish time. While every intension is to return on time, in some instances, times may vary by an hour or so. The leader will carry a Satellite messenger and or a Personnel Location Beacon (PLB) for emergency purposes if required. Note, the phone service in that area is very unreliable.

Hikers are to organize suitable transport for themselves and all equipment. Petrol money is generally organized within the members scout group) If someone is driving you, bring a full change of clothes, shoes. deodorant etc (in a plastic bag) that can remain with the cars until required for the journey home.

- This is a self-cater activity. Make sure that you know how to cook your meals and clean up any utensils and cooking equipment.

- Make sure your back pack FITS properly and that it is not too heavy. Pack everything inside the back pack, including the bedding roll mat. Use light weight camping and cooking. Attached file has list of equipment available for hire from Hume region activities team. Modest hire fee applies.

- NO open cooking fires are permitted. Gas, liquid and Solid fuel stoves are acceptable.

-There are NO facilities, need to bring cat hole shovel (for toilet). There are toilets at the car park (Friday night campsite).

- We plan on staying overnight at a camping cave. You may not need a tent however; hikers MUST take some form of shelter in case we don’t get to the cave. The floor of camping caves is generally hard and dusty.

- You will need to start with 1.5 – 2.5 litres of water depending on the weather. There should be water available from river and creeks near the camp site. Use water purification filter system or chemical treatment I.E Puritabs or Micropur

- NO plastic ponchos or plastic rain coats please. The friendly bush will tear the material.

- Carry emergency food ration (1 day). This is NOT an option.

- The weather can be very cold and wet at this time of year. We are still going if it is raining. It is good practice not to wear cotton or jeans in wet weather.

- We will talk to you about conglomerate rocks which become particularly slippery when they get wet

- Important: No hiker is to walk or climb on to the natural feature known as “Corang arch”

Drivers. The distance from Campbelltown to Wog Wog Camp site is approx 200km (one way) which takes about 2 ½ hrs. Use caution as there are numerous wombats and kangaroos crossing the road. Consider stopping at Marulan service centre for a rest.

From Marulan, driving on country roads, via Bungonia, Oallen Ford and Charleys Forest Road takes about approx 1 hour. Charleys Forest Road. to the Wog Wog camping area /car park is dirt/gravel.

Attached file has further directions for drivers.

The Activity will be postponed if there is a "severe weather warning" posted.
