Brief Summary:
The purpose of this event to learn and practice skippering a power boat. A boat licence is not required for you to participate.

Thursday 8/8 - 7pm - 9pm (Theory on Teams)

Sunday 11/8 - 10am to 4pm (SWASH)

Sunday 18/8 - 10am to 4pm (SWASH)

This course is suitable if:

  • You have a boat licence but want to increase your skills and knowledge
  • You do NOT have a boat licence, but want to get one. This course will provide you with the 3 trips and knowledge requirements for your Transport for NSW Boat Driving Licence Practical Logbook. 

If you do not have a licence, the process to obtain your general boat driving licence is:

Note: Scouts is not an Authorised Training Provder, but we can sign off the logbook. This weekend will not be sufficient to get your TP in Power Boating. 

During the course we will cover power boating on Lane Cove River, Parramatta River and Sydney Harbour. We will cover:

  • Preparing and launching a power boat
  • Basic driving and manoeuvres at various speeds
  • Picking up a buoy, coming alongside a deck and person overboard
  • Basic towing (not safety boat towing)
  • Dicussion on waterway rules and risks when power boating
