Additional Information

This is an introduction to paddling for Joeys and Cubs with minimal or no experience. Come learn to Paddle on the calm waters of the Hacking River in a Canoe and get signed off for Paddling Level 1.

Participants will learn the basics of a canoe trip, water safety along with important signals to be used on the river.

There will be a short canoe trip across the river to a beach for some morning tea and then back again (about an hour in total on the water).

Qualified Canoe Guide along with another member of the Activities Team will run this morning program for beginners to progress through  Paddling OAS Levels 1 & 2 via an easy morning paddle.

There are no prerequisites to attending. The main objective is to have fun, and to help youth gain confidence on the Water.

Please bring Swimmers, Sunsafe shirt and pants, Hat, Sunblock, Towel, Insect repellent, Water Bottle and Snacks for morning tea.

Spare clothes to wear home in case wet.

Participants must wear fully enclosed Water shoes (or sneakers that can be wet). Crocs are not acceptable.

Canoes, Paddles and PFDs will be provided. Youth can register without a leader.

In the case of storms or strong winds, the event will be cancelled and participants refunded.
