Brief Summary:
Our group will be holding a Pirate themed camp for Joeys through to Rovers, Leaders and Adult Helpers. All members must be active to attend.
Additional Information

YAAAARGH be prepared for a Piratey adventure at high sea! Shiver me timbers, ye get in the water vessel or ye walk da plank! Narrabeen will be our treasure island for the weekend. Get ready for a weekend of discovery and adventure, experiencing life at sea on canoes as Pirates who want to capture the flag and claim the island to be theirs for the taking. This is not just a camp; it's a way of life for us here Pirates. So climb aboard, scally wags!
 

What to Expect:

  • Abandon ship (Canoeing): ye may get wet, so bring ye togs, and always wear a PFD provided for ye! 
  • Shipwrecked (Beach time): ye be tasked with many pirating activities on the sand and in the rough high seas.
  • Treasure Hunting (Bush walk): ye need wear a hat for this adventure as we follow ye map to find ye treasure marked at X.
     

Uniform: Wear your scout uniform and scarf to and from the island, Pirating attire encouraged at all other times.
 

Meals that are included: Please ensure ye have ye dinner before attending (or bring dinner along to eat at ship's cove)

  • On Arrival: Supper
  • Day One: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper
  • Day Two: Breakfast, lunch
  • Snacks are included

*If you have a special diet, we can cater for you, but please advise Leaders if you would prefer to self-cater and we will reduce your camp fees to not include food. This offer is for special dietery people only.


Packing List (please label everything with your name):

  • Camping pack/bag
  • Day bag (if ye want it for the beach and the treasure hunt)
  • Clothes for each day and night (be prepared for hot, cold and wet weather)
  • Pajamas
  • Toiletries
  • Bucket style hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Enclosed shoes
  • Enclosed Water shoes (no crocs)
  • Sleeping bag
  • Pillow
  • Sleeping mat or stretcher (single size only)
  • Mess kit (including tea towel)
  • Water bottle
  • Swimmers + long sleeve shirt and board shorts for canoeing
  • Head torch
  • Towel (one for beach/canoeing and one for showering)
  • Wet weather gear (no umbrellas)
  • Any required medication – Place in a zip lock bag and place your name on the outside. Please include medication instructions. Please also provide a copy of the asthma/allergy plan if your child suffers from these.

 


Pickup Sunday: 1pm from Skip Kitchener Hall, then head to 1st/2nd Merrylands Scout Hall to help unpack the trailer before heading home approximately 4pm.

**Note 2: only canoes are approved vessels for this camp. We are only insured for and have qualifications for canoes. Please don't bring any other water vessel, e.g. kayak, SUP board, etc. We must adhere to NSW Scout Policy.
