Brief Summary:
Scouts will gather at 1st & 2nd Castle Hill to participate in a Scout Master Chef Cook Off to see which Unit can take the trophy! The activity will start at 6:30pm and finish at 9:00pm. There will be a cost of $5 per person, which will be payable to 1st Castle Hill Scout Leaders on the night.

Scouts will gather at 1st & 2nd Castle Hill to participate in a Scout Master Chef Cook Off to see which Unit can take the trophy!
The activity will start at 6:30pm and finish at 9:00pm.
There will be a cost of $5 per person, which will be payable in cash to 1st Castle Hill Scout Leaders on the night.
Patrols should be ideally between 4 to 6 Scouts, with a maximum of 8 per patrol. This may be dependent on the amount of equipment each unit has available.
PLAN: Using a list of issued ingredients plan a competitive meal that meets the criteria of Personal Presentation and Set Up, Hygiene and Food Waste, Preparation, Presentation and Taste.  Attached is a Judging Sheet that details how the event will be scored. Also attached is an equipment list of materials that need to be brought along by each patrol.
DO: Each Scout patrol will receive a mystery box with ingredients and will have to prepare and cook a main course by using some or all ingredients provided in the mystery box.

CORE BADGEWORK:
Stage 3 Camping: I have used a gas cooker to help cook a camp meal.
Stage 4 Camping: I can demonstrate techniques to avoid injury when setting up and packing up or moving equipment.
Stage 4 Camping: I have checked equipment for damage and discussed if it needs to be repaired or replaced.
Stage 5 Camping: I have identified improvements that could be made to the three-course meal for next time I prepare a menu and cook on camp.

DISTRICT COOK OFF - HILLS DISTRICT SCOUTS EQUIPMENT LIST This is the list of equipment that each Patrol will be required to bring along as a minimum. EQUIPMENT SUPPLIED 1st and 2nd Castle Hill Scouts will provide plastic fold out tables for you to use for cooking and preparation / serving. If your cooking equipment requires different tables, please bring them along. All participants to bring own mess kit Wet weather: Consider bringing along a gazebo or other shelter in case of rain
