The Radio skills day provides the opportunity for scouts to complete 80% of their communication badge. If the participant completes a project on a communications system (which they will choose on the day) and show it to their unit they can be awarded the communication badge after attending this event. Topics covered include UHF CB radio, Personal locater beacons, on air message handling, communications planning for activities youth members may be engage in, basic care and maintenance of communication equipment as well as equipment set up. This event is focused to scout age members, it is recommended that participants bring a pen and paper, awards book, lunch and a open mind and a can do attitude. This event is good for any youth members who would like to find out more about communications technology and a starting point into the area of communication technology.

A completed and signed E1 needs to be sent along with payment to GWS Region Office prior to closing date, for each applicant
