We are meeting at Shelly Beach for a snorkelling adventure. This is an opportunity for Scouts working on Snorkelling stages 4-5 to cover some badge requirements and to participate in an enjoyable snorkelling activity.
A wetsuit is recommended as you will become cold even on a hot day. Expected water temperature is 19C. If you are in the water for a while at this temperature a 3mm-5mm short or full wetsuit is recommended.
If scouts are wearing a short wetsuit it is a good idea to wear a long sleeved rash-guard underneath for protection from the sun, rocks, coral, etc.
Scouts are advised to check their mask, fins, snorkel are in good repair before arriving. In particular clips and valves. There will be no spares available if your equipment fails.
BAD WEATHER: Notice of cancellation will go out in the evening before or on the morning of the activity if the weather is not suitable for snorkelling. You will receive an email and there will be a post on the 1st Kellyville Facebook group.
PARKING: Parking is available, but it gets busy so allow time to find a parking spot. It is paid parking. There is wheelchair access at the loading bay which can be accessed by driving down from the Bower St car park. Alternatively wheelchair access is via the foot path from Fairy Bower and Manly beach.
