Additional Details
Suitable for youth members who are learning to carry a loaded pack.
This route includes walking track and unsealed roads. Average grade is easy/medium inclusive of short ascent/decent sections. This involves extended strenuous physical activity and endurance. Suitable for youth and adults who exercise and or play sport regularly.
Highlights include views from Mount York Lookout and walking through the small village of Hartley Vale. The descent into Hartley Vale on Coxs Road is a little rocky in places but very achievable. The ascent to Mount Victoria on Lawsons Long Alley is a very pleasant short climb on an open track.
We intend to stay overnight at the "Lockyers Trackhead Camping Area" located on Hartley Vale Road. The trackhead is located midway between Collits Inn and Comet Inn on a sealed road.
Campsite has a pit toilet, picnic tables, spacious grassy area and a carpark.
This camp is self-catered so please bring whatever suits your liking. It is important to bring sufficient food for the duration. Choose hearty and nutritious foods that will provide sufficient energy.
Prepare for bush toileting and hygiene during the hike. If we come close to a toilet we will stop however they are infrequent and sometimes closed due to maintenance or vandalism.
Participants coming by train are encouraged to travel in small groups and travel in the guard's carriage marked with a blue light.
Scout uniform is not required however please wear your scarf. Please bring some money for afternoon tea on Sunday.
