Brief Summary:
For Venturers, Rovers, Adult Helpers and Leaders wanting to learn how to lead Snorkeling activities and attend for the full day. Participants will learn the basics of snorkeling including reading tides, gear use and maintenance and how to safely snorkel as a group. The activity can go towards evidence for SP and TP qualifications. You will learn some basic aquatic rescues. You will get the chance to put your skills running a snorkeling activity into practice when other youth members who just want to have fun will attend on the Sunday. Bring your own gear. Region has a limited quantity of snorkeling gear.

THE ACTIVITY -
Participants will develop skills in snorkelling, water safety, correct use of gear. The day can go towards evidence for SP and TP snorkelling.

PRE- REQUISITES - nil - Must be confident in the water and be happy to put their face in the water.

CLOTHING / EQUIPMENT - Participants should bring along snorkeling gear if they have it. Mask, snorkel, flippers. Sun safe water clothing. Towel, dry warm clothes to change into. Sunscreen. If you don't have equipment the course leader may be able to provide it.

Participants should also bring snacks, lunch and drinking water for the day. 

NOTE: If we get heavy rain and strong winds before the activity, it often means that the water is not particularly clear. We hope that it will be clear on the activity day, however, if conditions are not great we may need to postpone.

RECOGNITION - all participants should be readily identifiable as Scouts for the duration of the activity - scarf / camp shirt etc
