Brief Summary:
An introduction to abseiling for Joeys. The activity will be held on some short cliffs behind Glenrock Scout Camp. It is a short less than 10 minute walk from the Camp carpark.

NOTE: Please book into the morning session first. When it becomes full (max 30) we will start filling the afternoon session.

THE ACTIVITY: This is a half day activity introductory abseiling activity for Joeys where they can tick off some of the requirements to go towards Stages 1 and 2 of the OAS Youth Program. An afternoon session will be offered if we get additional numbers.

The activity will involve the Joeys in the safety requirements and basic abseiling techniques.  They will learn to abseil on a variety of cliffs from a few meters to up to about 5 meters. Joeys only need to do the ones they feel comfortable on.

FOOD: This is a self-catered half day activity. Joeys to bring there own snack food and drinking water.

TIME: Participants arrive Saturday morning at 12:45 and meet in the carpark for a 1:00pm start at the cliff face. They will go home at 3:00pm.

A Unit Leader must accompany youth members.

EQUIPMENT:

H&C Region abseiling gear is available for use for the duration of this activity. 

Participants must wear sturdy enclosed shoes.

PARENTS: If parents wish to watch from the bottom of the cliff they must be wearing a helmet. Parents are to restrain from giving instuctions to their children whilst on the abseil unless the rope operator says it is OK. Region will bring additional adult helmets.
