This is the second of three Proficiency badge workshops which will assist the Scouts to achieve each of the three Proficiency badges. At the conclusion of the three workshops, the Scout has the opportunity to do the assessment for the Amateur Radio Foundation License. Successful achievement will entitle the Scout to wear the special Amateur Radio Badge on their uniform. The Amateur Radio Foundation assessment is a formal qualification issued by the ACMA.
Topics covered in this workshop will include exploring the basics principles of radio transmitters, receivers and antenna’s. There will be a little bit of theory however we have structured the workshop to include lots of practical experiments. One of these experiments will be the construction of a crystal radio that participants can take home with them.
The workshop is a residential weekend starting at 8am Saturday morning with overnight accommodation in tents provided by the Scouts and/or their home troop. Meals will be provided from morning tea on Saturday and concluding with lunch on Sunday. The event concludes at 2pm on Sunday.
Cost for the weekend is $45 for Scouts and $10 for leaders which includes camping and meal costs. This will need to be paid to the Greater Western Sydney Region Office via an invoice sent out upon completion of the registration in EMS. Payment is required before the event start date. Registrations close 4pm Friday 21-June.
The E-Permission system for this event will be used which means there will be no paper E1 provided. Parents valid email address is required for registration to which an email will be sent upon registration. Parents will then need to click on the link in the email to connect to their childs registration and complete the various questions on medical etc. This must also be completed by the closing date.
