Brief Summary:
A bushwalking and optional camping activity to help attain Trained Participant Core Units and in Bushwalking for leaders , Venturer Scouts and Older Scouts. Also for Scouts and Venturer Scouts to gain progressions for stage 4 and parts of stage 5 in the OAS. For Scouts and Venturer Scouts wishing to get a Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation, this will assist in getting the evidence for the Core and Bushwalking units
Additional Information

Based at Springwood, there will be opportunity to cover theory skills required for Bushwalking and Navigation , together with helping to cover requirements for the Core Trained Participant units. These can be used towards attaining a Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation which, for a youth member, can provide for 3 unit credits towards an HSC  ( note - some other requirements will need to be met to complete the Certificate ). This is also being run to provide opportunity for some leaders to attain their Bushwalking Guide qualifications

For those undertaking their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award, this could be used for either Practice or Qualifying journey. For those doing Silver or Gold, this could be used for a Practice Hike

There will be 2 hikes of about 8km and 6km - to complete the Bushwalking unit,  evidence of one other bushwalk will be required to complete the bushwalking unit requirements.

For those wanting to complete the hike component for OAS Stage 4, you will need to bring backpack on the hike ,camp overnight and demonstrate ability to cook a camp meal

Prior to the event, please ensure that you log in to the Scouts Training site and complete the Certificate II Core and the Scouting Adventure e-learning modules. Please contact the organiser for assistance in logging in if needed

Catering not provided - the plan is to go to local pizzeria for dinner
