Welcome to the Region Scout Rally for 2025.
Scouts are invited to form patrols, consisting of between 4 and 8 Scouts, to take part in the Region Rally. Patrols will naviage the historcal township of Morpeth whilst completing 5 challenging activity bases over the weekend 17/18 May 2025.
If you don’t have sufficient Scouts from your home unit to form a patrol, you can still attend the Region Rally as part of mixed unit patrol (we will form these patrols and let you know the details).
Each patrol is to be self-sufficient, and your hike pack needs to contain everything you need for the weekend (a full gear list is attached). Remember to pack a raincoat, warm clothes, water bottle, sunscreen, hat and first aid kit. Your patrol, as a team will be required to navigate to the activity bases, setup hike tents, supply all your own food for Saturday / Sunday and cook your Saturday night dinner on hike stoves (no open fires will be permitted, please bring at least one hike stove per patrol). There may be the opportunity to purchase a small snack in Morpeth throughout the day if you have your own funds.
Whilst Scouts will be directly supervised at the activity bases and the overnight campsite, throughout the day, they will be independently hiking as patrols through Morpeth. Scouts need to remember that they are representing Scouts Australia and ensure they always follow the Scout Law / Promise. Behaviour that is not aligned with Scout values will not be tolerated and will result in your early exit from the Rally.
Scouts should wear a “patrol shirt” and their home unit scarf on Saturday. Patrols shirts should be matching and could be a patrol designed shirt, recent event shirt, group shirt etc - the more unique the better. Leaders and Venturers should wear their full Scout uniform.
Patrol registrations can be completed online. Once the individual members of your patrol have registered, as the Patrol Leader, you will need to log back into your event registration and click the "Add Patrol" button. Search for your patrol members by their name / membership numbers.
Scout Check-in: Ray Lawlor Reserve, 33 Edward Street, Morpeth. Check-in will be between 8:00 and 8:30am. It is recommended that patrols liaise prior to the event and consider carpooling to ensure they arrive at the same time. Once all patrol members are present, patrol leaders will be able to register and receive the details for their first activity base, which will commence at 9:00am.
Venturer Camping / Check-in: Morpeth Scout Hall, 103 Close Street, Morpeth. Venturers will be able to check in from 6pm on Friday 16 May 2025 (it is up to you whether you arrive on Friday night or Saturday morning). Venturers will need to bring their own camping equipment, cooking equipment and food for the weekend. Once checked in, Venturers can make their way to their chosen activity base.
Leader Camping / Check-in: Leaders are not required to check-in. Leader camping will be at the Hunter Valley District Scout Hall, 28 Jubilee Street, East Maitland. Leaders will be able to setup their tents from 6pm on Friday 16 May 2025. The Jubilee Street Scout Hall is relatively secluded, and there is sufficient camping space behind the Scout Hall. We ask that you do no leave valuables in your tents. Whilst we will have periodic patrols attending the campsite on Saturday, it will not be manned 24 hours a day. Leaders need to have arrived and setup their activity base before activities commence at 9:00am on Saturday 17 May 2025. Please talk to your District Scout Leader about your activity location.
Closing Ceremony / Pickup: Morpeth Public School, 46 High Street, Morpeth. Your parents are invited to attend the closing ceremony and watch your patrol be crowned Region Rally champions. The Ceremony will commence shortly after 1pm and Scouts will be able to be collected upon its conclusion.
Closing Date for Registrations / Receipt of Payments: 11 May 2025
