The activity is held at Mt Sugarloaf and involves a series of short walks between bases where various discussions are held to talk about the best type of gear, clothing, food, cooking stoves etc which should be used in Alpine areas when camping.
Participants will get a more detailed gear list of what to bring on registration, but as a minimum all participants should bring a pack with a rain coat, two x 1 litre water bottles, a first aid kit, a print out of the attached map, a print out or screen shot of the weather report for the day. If you have a compass please bring it, and if you have a tent, bring that as we will be setting up tents as one of the activities.
You also need to bring along your lunch to cook on your portable stove you would take camping in the snow. Each type of stove will be compared, and advantages and disadvantages discussed.
Buying snow gear can be expensive, so please don't buy any special equipment until after this course. Parents, if you wish to join the discussion in the last hour (between 2 and 3pm) we will be going over the pros and cons of some useful equipment your child may need.
Once you have submitted your registration, an invoice (summary sheet) will be generated with instructions on how to pay for this event. The following payment options will be available to you:
Credit/Debit Card
