Brief Summary:
Parents will drop off scouts at Epping Station and then take train/metro and bus to the spit bridge. Then we will hike from the Spit Bridge to Manly along the spit to manly walk. The hike will be around six hours including breaks. We will stop at manly to buy something to eat (ex. ice cream), and then take the ferry to circular quay and from there, take the train/metro back to Epping Station.

Map and Route:

Start at Epping Station

Take the metro to Crows Nest and transfer to bus 144 to Spit Bridge

Begin the hike from Spit Bridge to Manly Beach

Return home via ferry to Circular Quay from Manly Wharf and then a train back to Epping Station

Scenic viewpoints along the Spit to Manly walk

Sheltered spots at Clontarf Reserve and Fairlight Beach

What to Wear:

  • Comfortable hiking shoes or boots – with good grip and ankle support
  • Lightweight, moisture-wicking clothes – avoid cotton if possible
  • Long sleeves and pants – for sun and insect protection
  • Hat – wide-brimmed for sun protection
  • Sunglasses – UV protection
  • Weather-appropriate layers – e.g., fleece or rain jacket
  • Socks – breathable, ideally wool or synthetic

What to Bring

  • Daypack – comfortable with chest or waist straps
  • Water – at least 2 litres per person
  • Snacks / lunch – energy bars, fruit, sandwiches
  • Sunscreen & insect repellent
  • Map or GPS / Compass
  • First aid kit – including blister treatment
  • OPAL Card – $30 loaded
  • Pocket Money – to buy snack/ice cream at Manly (Optional)
