Brief Summary:
This Caving activity is open to members who have completed Timor caves caving weekend (or similar) and abseiling to a minimum of OAS Stage 4. If you are unsure of your skill level, You MUST contact the activity coordinator prior to event registration.

Prerequisites: Have Done Caving Introductory and Abseiling to OAS 4

Duration: 3 Day. It is recommended to travel down to Bungonia on the Friday.

Equipment:

Food, water, sunscreen, long shorts or pants, collared sleeved shirt and any personal medication, sturdy enclosed shoes, overalls or suitable clothing (that will get dirty) and camping equipment for weekend. 4 A point attachment Helmet, harness, abseiling gear if available. Notify Activity Leader if gear required.

As this activity is conducted in a cave system you will need 3 sources of light. A head torch for your helmet is an advantage. torch, Spare batteries Glow sticks, candles etc are suitable for the second and third source of light.

Those with long hair will need to have it tied back or wear a hair net.

Summary:

This weekend covers Stages 4 caving and above in the OAS, this will cover ascending within the cave and other higher risk manoeuvres. At this level you will start to assist with the belaying and set ups.

This activity is to give the participant an introductory experience into vertical caving and to extend previous caving experience in a number of interesting limestone caves in a remote bush setting.

LEADERS - This activity will be conducted under the leadership of qualified activity guides and leaders.

CAMPING - The activity will require the applicant to camp in a bush camp setting with limited facilities provided. Each applicant is to provide their own camping gear, food and water for the weekend. There are toilets and showers available.

RECOGNITION - all participants should be readily identifiable as Scouts to and from and for the duration of the activity - scarf / camp shirt etc in camp

ACCEPTANCE LETTER - Is attached to this Operoo. Any changes will be done via Operoo email or SMS.

Additional PAYMENT will be required for National Parks Camping and Park entry. Approximately $20.00 per night. Pay to Course Leader on day.

Day park use fees continue to apply year round and are in addition to Camp fees. In this park, vehicle entry fees are $8 per private vehicle per calendar day. The park has a card and coin-operated 'pay and display' machine out front of park office. This fee is exempt if a vehicle displays an eligible Park pass.
