Wee Jasper Caving/Abseiling Weekend for Cobargo Venturers- 2025

Venturers will be going caving, abseiling and Bushwalking at Wee Jasper. This will be a great weekend run by Scout Leaders/Guides from Wollongong area. No experience is necessary. We strongly encourage all Venturers to come along and give it a go.

The fee includes  camp fees, and all meals (Friday dinner to Monday Breakfast), use of gear (including harnesses and helmets), and transport costs.

Please bring Lunch to eat on the way up on Friday.

We will be camping at Fitzpatrick Track Head (with toilet facilities).

Bring:

• It will be very cold overnight, possibly below zero, so bring multiple layers of warm clothes.
• Tent, sleeping bag, mat and normal sleeping/camping gear
• Mess kit, drink bottle
• Small day pack to carry caving - it will get dirty
• Personal first aid kit to carry in day pack
• Head torch x 2 ( 1 to use and backup to carry in your daypack)
• Spare batteries for head torches in a small ziplock bag to be carried in the day pack
• Gloves - gardening gloves with some grip on the palms are good
• Old sneakers or Dunlop volleys to wear caving (not big bulky stiff boots) - they will get muddy and damp/wet.
• Another pair of shoes for hiking
• Overalls - crawling through caves is easier when your pants aren't getting caught on rocks and your top is not riding up. Wear old overalls over light clothes. Try op shops if you don't have any.
• Soft knee pads (optional) - not hard skating type
• BYO snacks - they must be in a wrapper and capable of being eaten without touching the food itself - you may have guano or other muck on your hands. Muesli bars, choc bars, bananas ok but not chips, lollies, apples, mandarins or other foods that you need to touch directly.
• Appropriate clothing for the weather - including hat, warm clothes for night and rain coat if necessary. Usual toiletries.
• Swimmers if you would like an icy dip in the creek next to camp

Please Note - You must Bring $20 Cash for SC&T gear hire if you intend to go Caving, and an additional $15 if you want to go into Careys Cave. So $35 in total in cash.

NOTE : Leaders will only have enough cash for themselves, so if yuo do not bring the money you will not go into any caves !!!
