Additional Information

Are you ready for Cuborette?

All GWS Cub Scouts are invited to attend the 'Dragon Training Academy' for a fun weekend of Dragon Trainers training.

You know how to train a dragon right, but do you know how dragon trainers are trained?

They go to the Dragon Training Academy, of course!

What is Cuborette?

GWS Cuborette is a weekend long camp for all Cub Scouts and Joey Scouts transitioning to Cubs, where you can meet other Cubs from all over Greater Western Sydney Region and have some fun and adventure completing lots of exciting activities!

Who can come?

Participants - The event is open to all Cub Scouts who are registered in the Cub Scout section or Joey Scouts aged 7 years & 9 months & transitioning into a Cub Scout Unit at the time of the event.  Joey Scouts over the age of 7 years & 9 months, are welcome to attend as part of a Cub Scout Unit. Parents are not required to attend with Joey Scouts.

Supporters - Scouts, Venturer Scouts, Rover Scouts, Leaders & Fellowship members are welcome to attend to help deliver this amazing adventure for our younger members, either as a line leader or service leader (see the section on staffing below.)

Activities

Cuborette will deliver some great activities! Adventurous Activities planned include both Rock and Water activities. These activities will be supervised by Scouts NSW qualified activity leaders.

Other activities will be supervised by Leaders of Youth and will be fun and exciting. They will encompass a range of areas from the environment, creative, social, construction and more.

Camping

Camping will be in Cuborette Units that are made up of Cub Scouts from within the District and from across the Greater Western Sydney Region.

Cub Scouts will be camping with other Cub Scouts and Leaders for their usual Scout Unit, and will be joined with other Scout Units within the local District to form a Cuborette Unit of approx 36 Cub Scouts, 5 Leaders of Youth and 3 adult helpers, within the same units.

Each unit will be self sufficient and will be managed by a Unit Coordinator selected by the Cuborette Organising Team. The combined Cuborette Unit will only require one dining fly and camp kitchen set up. They will need to work together with the Unit Coordinator to work out the equipment, menu and food required, as to who will bring what.

Junior Service Leaders and Service Leaders will be camped in their own Sub-Camp and will be catered for from the Cuborette HQ.

Leader/Adult roles

Line Leader - Each Cuborette Unit will be supervised by 1 Unit Coordinator and 4 Leaders and will be supported by up to 3 adult helpers. Leaders and other adults will be allocated to Cuborette Units by the Cuborette Organising Team, once applications for the event close.

Service Leader - The leaders (in addition to the above), parents and adult supports will act as Service Leaders, helping to deliver activities, catering, first aid, admin, sites, logistics and providing general support to the event.

Approved Carers - youth members that require a full time carer will have an approved carer allocated to care & supervise their youth member at all times. Approved carers will not be allocated to any other roles (e.g. cooking or base activities) and will be surplus to the Leaders and adults assigned to a Cuborette Unit.

Junior Service Leaders - will be supervised by Leaders of Youth and will help Service Leaders deliver Cuborette.

Catering

Catering for Units (Participants & Line Leaders) will be done in each Unit. Your Catering cost is not included in the event registration costs. Cuborette Units will need to work together and make their own arrangements for catering.

Service Leaders and Junior Service Leaders will be catered for through Cuborette HQ. *Please ensure that all dietary requirements are included on your e-permission form and that we receive these ASAP so that we can make sure we cater appropriately.
