Camp Overview
Region camp for Joeys is to introduce youth members to camp life as they start their Scouting journey.
Joeys need to have been invested to register.
The purpose of this camp is to encourage Joey independence. Parents or Guardians may attend however they will not be walking around with the joeys and instead assisting on running activities. As per Scouts NSW policy, adults are to sleep in separately from youth members.
Activities will include a hike, team-building activities/games, crate stacking, sock wrestling, slack line, creative crafts and much more, all aimed at developing confidence, independence and skills in a supportive environment.
Camping Arrangements
All Joeys will be in single sex, youth only tents. Joeys will be sleeping with the patrol and where possible Joeys will be camping with other Joeys from their Joey Unit. Each Joey Unit will provide at least one of their own leaders so your Joey will have a familiar face.
Parents/carers who have come to help at the camp must bring their own tent. Due to space limitations, please be mindful of the size of your tent.
Adult males and females cannot sleep in the same tent.
No Joeys are allowed in any adult tents.
Bathroom & Toilet Arrangements
Catering
All meals will be provided during the camp. Please ensure that any allergy information is included in your online application. Our catering team must know ahead of time what food is required.
No food/treats/lollies are to be brought to camp as they attract wildlife into tents and may be a dietary or food allergy issue to other campers.
Joeys will be eating with the patrols and must have their own mess kits. (Please refer to packing list for more information). All food will be included.
Camping is a requirement if the Joey wants to complete their Camping - Stage 1 badge.
Refund Policy
Refunds for people who withdraw before the application close date will incur a $5.00 fee. Any refund requests after the closing date will result in no refund unless there are documented exceptional circumstances (minus the $5.00 fee). If a youth member is sent home from the event for any reason, no refund will be given.
Parent Helpers
All parents and guardians attending must have a completed and approved A2 Adult Helper form, completed all mandatory online training modules and have a valid Working With Children check prior to registering to attend camp. If you register and approval is not received prior to camp, please refer to the refund policy above (A2 approval not received in time for camp is not considered a reason for camp fee refund). These items take a fair while to process so please start the application early.
