The course is run by the South Met Activities team and retired SAR proffessionals

We will be running a series of Search and Rescue exercises. These exercises range from, losing a party member while on a bushwalk to conducting a major SAR exercise involving several search teams and a central command centre. Some  participants will have the chance to coordinate the command centre while others can conduct a grid seach in the field.

Course participants will have to come prepared as you would for a days bushwalking, supervising a group of youth.

You will need

  1. Food for out in the field.
  2. Field note book and pencil
  3. 3m of small cord for lashings and a light tarp or hoochie.
  4. Whistle or signaling device
  5. First Aid kit
  6. This is not a cattered activity. We have access to a kitchen with all associated facilities.

The exercises will be conducted over a three and a half square km area in the Camp Coutts region.

At times the walking may be demanding and through scrub and off track

SISORSC001 (Conduct Search and Rescues) is a requirement for all Activity specialist and assistant guide in difficult bushwalking on tracked and untracked bushwalks. It is also a core module for Certificate IV in Outdoor Leadership
