Additional Information

Scouts, Venturers and Rovers with an interest in vertical activities are invited to participate in the upcoming North West Region Abseiling Weekend. This event is focused on building abseiling skills in a safe, supportive environment while having fun outdoors.

Participant Numbers:
This activity is strictly limited to the first 20 registered Scouts, Ventures and Rovers. 

Leader & Rover Support:
Current members of the Region Abseil Team are invited to assist with the facilitation of the weekend.
All other adults and leaders are welcome to attend in a supervisory capacity. Please note that participation in abseiling is not guaranteed for adults.

Activity Overview:
This weekend aims to introduce and develop vertical skills for youth through practical abseiling experience. Participants are encouraged to bring their current logbook or Outdoor Adventure Skills (OAS) record if available.

Location:
Kookaburra Camping & Caravan Park
12km north of Deepwater (clearly signposted)
Turn left into Castlerag Road.

Camp Cost: $50.00 total
Breakdown:

  • $30 - Abseliling equipment hire and region fees (via invoice)

  • $20.00 - Saturday night camp fees payable in CASH to Lando Warner on Saturday morning.

Accommodation & Catering:

  • This is a remote bush campsite with no electricity or refrigeration, 

  • Participants must bring their own tents, bedding, food, and cooking equipment.

  • Youth members will camp in section tents, with camping located adjacent to the basic camp kitchen shelter.

  • Facilities include bathrooms and hot showers.

  • Each Scout Group is required to bring enough drinking water and cooking water for their group.

Essential Clothing & Equipment:

  • Long-sleeved collared shirts and long pants (preferably cotton – no nylon)

  • Sturdy enclosed footwear (e.g. hiking boots)

  • Leather gloves (synthetic gloves are not suitable for abseiling)

  • Personal camping and hygiene items, appropriate sleepwear, broad-brimmed hat, and medication as required.
