⚓ James Craig Sleepover Overview

Join us for an unforgettable overnight adventure aboard the historic tall ship James Craig! While the ship will remain docked at Pyrmont, participants will sleep onboard in hammocks and take part in a variety of hands-on maritime activities designed to give them a taste of life at sea.

Planned Activities Include:

  • Cargo hauling using a traditional capstan
  • Guided ship tour and knot/rope work
  • Workshops on navigation, simple machines, and the life of a sailor
  • Deck swabbing, sail-raising (demonstration), coiling practice, and reflection
  • Supper, onboard film, and breakfast

Packing and Gear

specific packing list will be provided.

Cubs must be able to carry all their own gear for the approx. 700m walk from the bus stop to the ship and back.
No wheeled bags are permitted.

Scouts have a small number of backpacks available to borrow—please contact a Leader in advance if needed.

Please clearly label all items, including uniforms, bags, and personal gear.

Arrival and Dress

  • Cubs must travel in full Scout uniform(neat too)

  • Please make sure your Cub has eaten lunch before arriving


Medical & Dietary Info

  • Any medication (except puffers/EpiPens) must be handed to Leaders on arrival in a clearly labelled zip-lock bag with instructions

  • Ensure your Care Profile is up to date with any dietary or medical needs


Transport

Participants will travel via public transport, departing and returning to Ermington Shops Bus Stop.
Leaders will accompany the group on both journeys.
