Brief Summary:
Day event to teach introductory navigation skills, equipment & how to pack, light weight cooking, communication devices etc. Following day will be a day hike to put navigation skills into practice (separate event to apply for). Ideal before attending first overnight hike. Youth badgework to OAS 3-5. Leaders nav for Trained Participant bushwalking. Location: 1st Cobbitty Scout Hall, 110 Cut Hill Rd, Cobbitty. Lunch + morning & afternoon tea provided.

Want to improve your map, compass & GPS skills? Try different light weight hike foods. Learn what gear to take on an overnight hike and how to pack it. Clothing & footware. Communications devices. We will also be cooking various hiking foods to taste test.

This will be a hall based activity. Day hike the following day to put skills into practice, recommended to attend both events.

BYO pen & notepad. BYO compass, stove & billy if possible.

Lunch + morning & afternnon tea will be provided.
