Parramatta District Scouts GNW #2 Day Hike (Chatswood West to Thornleigh Station)

Description:
The Scouts will be hiking the section of the Great North Walk (GNW) starting from Delhi Road in Chatswood West and finishing at Thornleigh Station.
Parents can drop their Scouts to the start point of the hike (9:20am at corner of River Avenue and Delhi Road, Chatswood West) or Scouts can travel with Leaders on public transport. The Leaders will be departing from the M2 Barclay Road bus stop at 8:15am.
Parents can collect their Scouts from the end point of the hike (4pm at Thornleigh Station) or Scouts can travel with Leaders on Public transport. The Leaders expect to be returning to the M2 Barclay Road bus stop at 5pm.
The hike is approximately 14km walking distance and suitable for beginner level hikers (OAS Bushwalking stage 2). The approximate route for the hike is :-
Cost:
$10 on Opal card if travelling on public transport to and from the hike.
Wear:
- Scout shirt and scarf
- Hat (full brim recommended)
- comfortable shorts/pants
- comfortable shoes suitable for hiking
Bring:
Small day pack containing:
- drink bottle (minimum 2L)
- lunch and snacks
- sunscreen
- rain coat
- jumper/jacket
