Venturer Social Camp

Welcome to the 2026 Venturer Social Camp.

This time we're focussing on Abseiling, introductory Canyoning and Pioneering. And the usual time to catch up and socialise.

What we're doing. One the Saturday we split into 2 groups, each group will do each of the following:

1) having a great time learning abseiling. Doing shorter drops, and some bigger ones for those who have more experience.

2) fun pioneeering activities, and probably ticking off some things from your OAS Bushcraft.

Sunday is a visit to Scouts Falls, either walking up the creek or those who are intrested can learn the beginnings of canyoning on the journey. And everyone gets a swim at the base of the falls.

The camping is based at the Recreation Grounds at Glenreagh NOT the scout camp.

What to bring:

• camping gear
• tent
• bedding
• torch
• toiletries 
• chair
• bring all the food you'll need from Friday to Sunday afternoon. VENTURERS ARE SELF CATERING.
• everything you need to cook and eat the food you bring (stove & gas, utensils, pots, mess kit, dish cloth & tea towel).
• any medication you need (fill out the E1 with these)
• Day pack for your snacks, gear for swimming, basic first aid kit (of course) & water bottle

Clothing:

• Full uniform - we will be investing some new venturers and maybe an award or two for leaders
• Typical sunsafe camp clothes, top, shorts/trousers (not too short for abseiling), pjs.
• Swimmers, including shoes for the creek walk. Wet shoes for canyoning!!!
• Hat
• Sturdy shoes for abseiling - e.g. decent joggers or boots
• A change of clothes for relaxing around camp
• Towel for showers & swimming

• Most of all, bring your sense of adventure, fun and giving it a go.

Venturers are expected to arrive Friday night, and stay until closing on Sunday.

We have an amazing group of leaders who are coming to support this camp.  In addition to the above camping gear, leaders will be catered for.
