This year the Scouts and Guides will compete against each other.

Who Can Join?
Patrols of 6–8 Scouts and Guides can take part.

Gear & Lightweight Expectations
This is a true lightweight event — gear will be weighed.

  • Patrol gear target: 20%–25% of combined patrol bodyweight
  • Bonus points for hitting 20% exactly
  • Participants carry and hike with all their gear daily (tents excluded)
  • Everyone must pack up and manage their own gear each morning
  • Tent checks before bases — neat, secure, weather‑ready setups expected

What’s in Store

  • Frontier Skills: bushcraft, teamwork, problem‑solving
  • Outlaw Obstacle Courses and Saloon‑Style Scenarios
  • Points for patrol spirit, skill, and Wild West creativity

Saturday Night Patrol Cook‑Offs
On Saturday night, each patrol will plan a menu and cook their own meal.
Patrol members are responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving their dinner as a team — no leader assistance.

Bonus points awarded for:

  • Teamwork
  • Creativity
  • Wild West‑themed meals
  • Presentation and patrol hospitality

Think cowboy cuisine, frontier feasts, and chuckwagon pride.
Leaders are welcome to join you — show off your skills and spirit!

  • Best Dressed Patrol: cowboy hats, prairie skirts, sheriff badges, outlaw swagger
  • Sheriff’s Choice Award: for the patrol that best embodies the Wild West spirit

Sun Safety

  • Broad‑brimmed hats & sun‑protective clothing
  • SPF 50+ sunscreen applied regularly
  • Shade during peak UV
  • Hydration and regular breaks

Child Safe Scouting
Scouts NSW is committed to a safe, inclusive, empowering environment:

  • Zero tolerance for abuse
  • All adults must hold a WWCC and complete a Police Check
  • Mandatory training:
    • Child Safe Scouting
    • Scouts NSW Code of Conduct
    • WHS for Scouting
  • Minimum two adults present at all activities
  • Youth and adults must: Know It. Live It. Log It.

Adult Helper Requirements
Adult Helpers supporting Scout Groups must:

  • Hold a valid WWCC
  • Complete a Police Check
  • Complete the three online modules:
    • Child Safe Scouting
    • Scouts NSW Code of Conduct
    • WHS for Scouting
  • Be screened and approved by their Group Leader
