Practice day bushwalks @ Palm Beach to Barrenjoey Head and The Basin to West Head

Saturday bushwalks

This event is taking place over 2 Saturdays. Saturday 8nd August and Saturday 22nd August 2026.

Please note we are reaching out for Registered Adult Helpers, Rovers, Adults Leaders and Fellowship to support on these days. All adults on site must be registered with Scouts NSW. Ideally 2 or more adult members to join with Tristan and a minimum of 5 youth to proceed.

Join us for one day or both days.

Prerequsite OAS bushwalking stages 1 & 2. All youth and adults require a current Scouts NSW membership number and financial status. All adults on site must be registered with Scouts NSW.

Child safety is our number one priority at Scouts NSW. Therefore, all Adult Helpers are thoroughly screened, undergo a Police Check, must hold a valid, verified Working With Children Check and undertake two online training modules to ensure the safety of our youth members.

Please note: Suitable for entry level bushwalkers with good fitness and health. Route includes some rocky bush tracks which may be uneven and slippery. Both tracks include steep ascent and descent sections and stairs.

Palm Beach Wharf to Barrenjoey Head via Palm Beach 7.9 km Loop Grades 3 & 4

Palm Beach Wharf to Barrenjoey Head via McKay Reserve Walking Track, Ebor Road to Ocean Road, Beach Road, Palm Beach, Seaplane Wharf, Smugglers Track 7.9 km Loop, Grade 3 & 4 includes hard grade, steep climbs, good fitness and health required

Mackerel Beach, West Head Loop 8.6 km Circuit, 5 hrs, Grade 4 Includes hard grade

Start: 9:30 am Palm Beach Wharf (ferry departs at 10 am) Arrives Mackerel Beach 10:30 am

Afternoon ferry departs Mackeral Beach 5:10 pm arrives Palm Beach 5:45 pm (delays may occur)

Finish: 5:45 pm (delays may occur) Palm Beach Wharf

Fares can be purchased onboard the vessel at the time of departure. Credit/debit card transactions only, opal card not available on the ferry.
