Brief Summary:
The 1st Ermington Scout Group is organising this Cowan to Woy Woy 3 Days, 2 Night hike to support a Scout completing her Adventurous Journey for the Australian Scout Award during the April Easter long weekend. This activity is planned and led by a youth working for the Peak Award. The activity will start from and end at the concourse at Epping Station.
Additional Information

Starting from the concourse at Epping Station, we will travel by train to Cowan Station. From there, we will walk to the Brooklyn Dam Campsite via Jerusalem Bay. This segment is part of the famous Great North Walk and will be a bit tiring with some steep descents and ascents, but we are Scouts - we will do it with a smile.

Our first night will be spent at the Brooklyn Dam Campsite.

On the second day we will walk over to Brooklyn town where we will catch the iconic heritage listed Brooklyn Ferry all the way to Little Wobby Wharf. This ferry journey from Brooklyn will be one of the many highlights of this Hike. From Little Wobby Beach, we will walk via Little Patonga Beach and then along the Midway Ridge Trail with its amazing views overlooking the Hawkesbury River to the Rocky Pools Campsite.

We will spend our second night at the Rocky Pools Campsite.

On the final day of our walk, we will make our way past the peak of Mount Wonderbyne where awe-inspiring vistas of the entire region will greet us, all the way to Woy Woy Station. Finally, we will catch the train back to Epping Station and home sweet home.

The hike will meander through pristine bushland, delightfully secluded beaches, and have many vantage points of the picturesque Hawkesbury River and its islands. Please see the attached Hike Map.

1st Ermington Scouts can provide a Hiking Backpack, shared tent and stove if required. Please see the attached packing list.

Scouts are welcome to register; however, previous lightweight camping, bushwalking experience, and good fitness are required. OAS Camping Stage 3, Bushwalking Stage 4 and above is required.

Attendance at the following preparatory sessions are mandatory:

  1. Online planning session on Monday 23/03 @ 7:30pm.
  2. In-person bag check/weighing session on Monday 30/03 @ 7:30pm at the 1st Ermington Scout Hall.

The cost of food and incidentals will be known closer to the event date and will be notified during the Online Theory session.

This hike will be remotely supervised by Scouts appointed Guides.

It should be an awesome hike. Hope you can join us!
