Chainsaw course covers the units of competency FWPCOT2254 Maintain chainsaws and FWPCOT2273 Trim and cut felled trees and is the most popular course for anyone who uses a chainsaw; whether in the workplace, as a volunteer, or at home. Trainees will learn about chainsaw maintenance, sharpening, WHS safe work best practice, risk assessment, PPE use, safe chainsaw handling, cleaning & cutting timber on felled trees, and much, much more. This course is suitable for initial and/or refresher training.
This course adheres to the Australian Standards pertaining to safe use of chainsaws and to both National and State safe work legislation. The use of any chainsaw may be hazardous. With a basic understanding of your chainsaw and how it is intended to be used, you can reduce or eliminate the risk of serious injury or a possible fatality. The Chainsaw course with Duff Consulting is designed to cover the basic skills & knowledge required for safe and competent maintenance & use of a hand-held chainsaw in a range of situations.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
This course is designed for persons currently employed in industry with a requirement to obtain a Statement of Attainment that covers basic chainsaw maintenance and trimming and cutting felled trees. Students are assumed to have pre-existing knowledge in maintaining and operating chainsaws. Generally, learners will have also operated a chainsaw in the past. Students will also typically have completed their workplace orientation and induction training and be familiar with foundation concepts relating to work health and safety including identifying hazards in the workplace, using PPE, and completing safe work method statements. If an individual does not meet these requirements they may be deemed ineligible for short course delivery. While there are no pre-requisites for this course, you will need to have sufficient English language skills to complete the competency-based chainsaw training.
You will also be required to undertake practical training and assessments which will entail starting a chainsaw, holding, and cutting with a chainsaw.
All participants must be aged 16 years or above on the day of the course.
APPLICANTS
There is a requirement that you will need to enrol in this course with the RTO's Provider. Once registered and minimum numbers reached, you will receive an email to outline that enrolment process, which MUST be completed at least 5 days BEFORE the course date.
This does meet Scouts NSW's requirement for the use of Chainsaws as per the published chainsaw policy on NSW Scouts Website at the moment.
