Additional Information

The Wilderness 1st Aid skillset includes Provide 1st Aid (HLTAID011) and the following two units:

SISOFLD004 Provide First Aid in Remote Locations is very useful to those who will be providing first aid in remote settings within the outdoor recreation sector. This may include those undertaking a leadership role in outdoor recreation activities, such as bushwalking or other guided activities in remote locations. This may also include those working for private outdoor adventure companies, volunteer organisations, not for profit organisations or government agencies.

SISXEMR004 Coordinate Emergency Response: This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to coordinate a response to an emergency situation. The unit focuses on assessing emergency situations, implementing an emergency action plan, and coordinating a prompt and effective response. This unit applies to individuals designated as safety officers during a specific indoor or outdoor activity at locations such as camp sites, training areas and other outdoor sites; or Activity Guides.

Any AQF Certification Documentation is issued by H&A Training, RTO 90871 and delivered under a Third-Party agreement with Walter Waerner

There will be a number of practical scenarios, so bring tents, sleeping bags, and everything needed to protect you and casualties from the weather. Also, don't forget wet weather gear, we will be outside regardless of the weather.

This skillset is intended for Leaders, Rovers & Venturers (aged 16 years and older).  It is a mandatory requirement for those with AA Guide qualifications to hold/regain this 1st Aid skillset every three years to maintain their currency as a Guide.

Participants must be at least 16 years of age.

This course will be run from 1:00pm on Saturday 11 April through to 3:00pm on Sunday 12 April. Participants are required to be present for the whole duration of the training package, which will run into the evening on the Saturday night as a number of night-time scenarios will be completed by participants.

Overnight (BYO tent) camping is available in the backyard of the hall.

The weekend is self-catered - there are basic cooking facilities available at the hall, plus a Woolworths, Aldi and various fast food offerings nearby.

Cost is $120 each person. Payment is required to secure your place on the panel.

Maximum panel size is 20 persons. Registrations will close once the panel has reached capacity, or by 6 April (whichever occurs first).

Please wear comfortable, warm clothing and your scarf. Note that evening/overnight temperatures near Canberra can be quite chilly and you will be spending much of the evening outside undertaking scenarios, regardless of the weather.

Bring a hiking pack, complete with appropriate equipment within for an overnight bushwalk/camp - this is required for the training/exercise scenarios.
