Spit to Manly Walkway – NSW national parks. Grade 3

OAS - meets OAS3 requirement for 'day bushwalk of at least 6 hours duration'. Opportunity to run a navigational activity (contact organiser).

Note : for this activity, participants will need an Opal card with sufficient value for their train, bus and ferry fare for the day or other electronic method to make payment for transport fares. Fares are NOT included in activity fee.

It is a full day hike. Participants should bring all food required required for the day (snacks and lunch) together with sufficient water (at least 2 litres). There are few places to purchase supplies along the trail and insufficient time to purchase them once participants have joined the activity.


There are two locations/times to join the hike
1. From Sutherland Station at 8am
2. From the Grand Concourse, Central Station, adjacent to platform 16/17 escalators at 8:50am.

We will depart on the bus from Wynyard and alight at Spit West Reserve. We will proceed, on foot, across Spit Bridge before joining the Spit to Manly walk on the north side of Spit Bridge. We will follow the trail through Clontarf, Grotto Point (aboriginal rock carvings), Dobroyd Headland, Forty Baskets Beach, North Harbour Reserve, Fairlight Beach, Federation Point, ending at the Manly Wharf.

We will catch a ferry from Manly to Circular Quay, and then a train to Central from where people may leave the hike  or travel on to Sutherland. 

7:55am (Option 1) Meet at Sutherland Station

8:50am (Option 2) Meet at the Grand Concourse, Central Station, adjacent to the platform 16/17 escalators)

9:44am - Arrive Spit West Reserve, (Stop 208811) and depart on hike

15:00 Depart Manly via ferry to Circular Quay and immediately transfer to Central Station where participants may depart under their own supervision (from the Grand Concourse adjacent to the platform 16/17 escalators. Greeting parents may require a 'platform ticket').

16:00 - Depart Central platform 25

16:40 - Arrive Sutherland Station

Cancellation is weather dependant.

Refunds, in the event of cancellation, are not available.
