Additional Information

Top rope climbing day at Mezzaluna crag (Mt York, Mt Victoria area, Blue Mountains), about 250m steep walk/scramble from the carpark.

Suitable for Scouts, Venturers and Rovers working on OAS 4 and 5 climbing skills who are already climbing indoors regularly. YOU MUST OWN YOUR OWN CLIMBING SHOES TO PARTICIPATE ON THIS TRIP. Our aim is to climb grades 15 – 17 outdoors and teach/practice skills that you need to progress your OAS stages. You should come to the trip with OAS 4 and 5 stage statements that you want to either be taught/shown or demonstrate your existing competence for assessment. The focus will be on practical skills that are best done at a crag.

The event is being run by Bernard Pfeil 0434 774467.

You must bring with you:

- Clothing: clothing suitable for climbing, comfortable sturdy walking boots/sneakers, raincoat, warm layer for top half. If you own a harness or helmet, bring those along. Make sure you have some way to tie your hair back if it is long.

- Other: Sunscreen, lip balm, insect repellent (optional), 1.5 - 2L of water in bottles (or a hydration pack), personal first aid kit. Bring a large day pack (30-40L) for lunch, water, clothing layers, etc, to take to the cliff. Make sure you have room for some additional group gear.

- Food: Bring your own lunch, snack and water. Youth are allowed to bring mobile phones, but are to be kept in backpacks during the activity, unless the Activity Leader give permission (e.g., to take photos).
