Additional Information

This event is taking place on the first weekend of the NSW Public School Holidays. Saturday 4th July, Sunday 5th July and Monday 6th July 2026. Option to arrive or leave early. Option to travel on train or be dropped off and picked up from Shellharbour Junction Station.

*Please note bushwalk and camp may be run under the indirect/remote supervision of a guide depending on adult member availability. The event may be run by experienced Scouts or Venturers. Any adults will camp seperately.

**Please note: youth and adults must camp with clear seperation, parents can not share a tent with their child. Youth must be capable to carry their tent or part of their tent for the duration. We may have enough older Scouts and Venturers who have spare capacity to share carrying parts of one or two tents for the younger hikers.

Please note we are reaching out for Registered Adult Helpers, Rovers, Adults Leaders and Fellowship to support on these days. All adults on site must be registered with Scouts NSW. Ideally 2 or more adult members to join with Tristan and a minimum of 5 youth to proceed.

Prerequsite OAS bushwalking stages 1 & 2. All youth and adults require a current Scouts NSW membership number and financial status. All adults on site must be registered with Scouts NSW.

Child safety is our number one priority at Scouts NSW. Therefore, all Adult Helpers are thoroughly screened, undergo a Police Check, must hold a valid, verified Working With Children Check and undertake two online training modules to ensure the safety of our youth members.

Generally suitable for entry level with good health and fitness. Please note this route does include some undulating landscape and hill climbs.

Killalea Regional Park is the jewel in the crown of the Illawarra. Located between Shellharbour and Kiama, visit for a day to surf world-class breaks or linger to enjoy beach walks, fishing and coastal camping.

Killalea Regional Park may be small in size, but there’s plenty to see and do here. Catch waves at its famous surf breaks, The Farm or Minnamurra Beach, also known as ‘Mystics’ to the locals. Try your luck with fishing along the beaches or Minnamurra River. Or set up camp at Killalea campground for a relaxing weekend’s stay with the family.

Killalea is home to remnant rainforest including massive Morton Bay figs. Rare coastal plants like the endangered white flowered wax plant and Illawarra zieria also grow here – spot its petite white flowers from late winter to summer.
