Brief Summary:
A multi-day coastal hiking expedition along the stunning Solitary Islands Coastal Walk, designed for experienced Scouts working towards OAS Bushwalking Stage 4–5. The group will travel to Coffs Harbour on 2 October, with the hike running from 3–5 October. 6th October will be a free day for a possible Big Banana visit. Participants will carry full packs, camp each night at Scout Halls or suitable locations, and finish at the Coffs Harbour Aquarium. This is a physically challenging, skills-focused expedition requiring good fitness, prior bushwalking experience, and attendance at pre-hike preparation sessions.
Additional Information

Solitary Islands Coastal Walk – 2–5 October

More details will be provided as planning progresses, but here’s an overview of what’s shaping up to be an incredible coastal adventure.

The Plan:

We’ll depart on Friday 2 October, driving up to Coffs Harbour together as a group.

From Saturday 3 to Monday 5 October, we’ll hike from somewhere in Sawtell all the way past Coffs Harbour, along one of NSW’s most scenic coastlines - the Solitary Islands Coastal Walk.

Each night, we’ll stay at local Scout Halls or suitable camping locations along the route, carrying our gear and building self-sufficiency over multiple days.

The hike will finish at the Coffs Harbour Aquarium.

We have an extra day in Coffs Harbour so a visit to the Big Banana could be a distinct possibility. We will wrap up the journey and celebrate an epic achievement before heading home on the 6th.

What to Expect:

This expedition is designed to support OAS Bushwalking Stage 4–5 progression, with a strong focus on:
