This activity provides participants with the opportunity to develop and demonstrate Outdoor Adventure Skills (OAS) Vertical Stages 1–6 through a range of practical and theory-based activities, with participants allocated to a stream based on their age, experience, and OAS progression.
Activities across all streams may include equipment inspection, knots, communication systems, rope handling, supervised abseiling, safety procedures, theory sessions, and other vertical skills appropriate to participant capability and OAS stage requirements.
Adult Members are also welcome to attend in support, instructional, or development roles, subject to appropriate qualifications and progression pathways.
Time: 8:30am – 12:30pm
Designed for Cubs and Scouts, this introductory session focuses on foundational vertical skills including equipment fitting, safety procedures, communication systems, knots, rope handling, and supervised abseiling.
Time: 12:30pm – 4:00pm
Designed for Scouts and Venturers who have previously achieved at least OAS Vertical Stage 2. This session focuses on skill consolidation, increased independence, and progression through repeated abseils and greater involvement in vertical activity systems.
Time: 8:00am – 4:00pm
Designed for experienced Venturers and participants undertaking advanced OAS progression. This full-day session includes advanced abseiling skills, rigging exposure, leadership opportunities, theory components, and a deeper understanding of vertical systems and safe operation.

Lunch, snacks, drink, sunscreen (you will be exposed to the sun and wearing a helmet with no sun visor)
Long-sleeved shirt, long trousers, sturdy closed footwear with good grip. Uniforms are not necessary. Avoid loose clothing. Waterproof/windproof outer layer packed in bag. Accessories to secure hair.
Entrance gate is on left side when coming from Tahmoor, 1.3km along Rockford Rd, immediately after a left hand bend. If you cross a bridge you have gone too far. Site access road is a rough dirt track and may not be suitable for low cars.
