Brief Summary:
We will be meeting at Elevate Rock centre in Villawood
Additional Information

  • Please meet at 6:30pm inside the foyer.
  • Parents MUST escort youth inside for drop off.
  • We would love for parents/guardians to stay around to help belay & supervise if possible. Belaying Harness is free.
  • The cost paid is for participant entry and harness hire. $20 payable direct to the centre upon arrival.
  • Wear Cub shirt (no scarf), comfortable pants or leggings and closed in shoes.
  • Bring a head torch for the caving activitiy inside the rock climbing centre.

Cub Scout Safety Briefing

Rock Climbing – Elevate Villawood

1. Listen and Follow Instructions

  • Always listen carefully to your leaders and Elevate staff
  • Follow directions the first time they are given
  • Only climb when told it’s your turn


2. Harness & Equipment Safety

  • Your harness must be fitted and checked by staff or a leader before climbing
  • Never remove your harness (if provided) unless told
  • Do not touch ropes or clips unless instructed


3. Safe Climbing Behaviour

  • One climber per wall unless told otherwise
  • Stay within your assigned climbing lane
  • Climb at your own pace - no racing or pushing yourself too far
  • If you feel tired or scared, call down: “Take me down please!”


4. Awareness & Staying Safe on the Ground

  • Keep clear of climbing areas when not climbing
  • Do not walk under someone who is climbing
  • Stay with your group leader at all times


5. No Running or Rough Play

  • Walk at all times inside the venue
  • No pushing, climbing on walls without permission, or swinging on ropes


6. Health & Personal Safety

  • Tell a leader if you:
    • Feel unwell
    • Get hurt
    • Feel scared or unsure
  • Drink water and take breaks when needed


7. Clothing & Personal Items

  • Wear:
    • Closed-toe shoes
    • Cub scout shirt (no scarf)
    • Comfortable pants or leggings
  • Tie back long hair
  • Remove loose jewellery


8. Buddy System

  • Stay with your buddy and your Cub unit
  • Do not leave the area without telling a leader


9. Emergency Awareness

  • Stop immediately if you hear “STOP”
  • Follow leader instructions calmly and quickly
