Brief Summary:
Join us for a fun day bushwalking adventure through the beautiful Garigal National Park, exploring some of Sydney’s best natural bushland trails. This hike will take Scouts through the Pipeline Track and Bungaroo Track, continuing to The Cascades and Wayne Schimanski Reserve, where we will stop for lunch before returning to our starting point. This is a fantastic opportunity to build bushwalking skills, fitness, navigation awareness, and enjoy the outdoors with fellow Scouts. This bushwalk will meet the requirement for Bushwalking Stage 3 badgework.

Transport Plan:
Parents are requested to drop off and collect participants from St Ives Sports Centre. From there, the group will hike via the Pipeline Track and Bungaroo Track to The Cascades and Wayne Schimanski Reserve for a lunch stop, before returning to the original meeting point. The full activity will take approximately 5 hours, including rest breaks.

What to Wear:

  • Comfortable hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes
  • Breathable, weather-appropriate clothing
  • Warm layer (if cooler weather expected)
  • Hat
  • Comfortable hiking socks

What to Bring:

  • Small daypack
  • Packed lunch and snacks
  • Minimum 2 litres of water
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Personal first aid kit
  • Any required personal medications

This activity is suitable for Scouts who are comfortable walking for an extended period over uneven bush terrain. Please ensure you come prepared for changing weather conditions.
