Brief Summary:
Scouts will work towards their next level Bushcraft Badge (Levels 1–3) or Stage 4/5 Pioneering Badge throughout the day. Activities will include learning and practising a variety of knots, lashings, and basic pioneering construction techniques. Scouts will also learn how to correctly set up patrol tents and dining flies as part of developing practical camping and outdoor skills. Venturers will participate in a separate tower-building activity designed to support their Stage 6 and 7 Pioneering badgework. This activity will focus on advanced pioneering skills, teamwork, leadership, and safe construction practices.
Additional Information

The Scouts who have already achieved their level 4 Pioneering will collaborate in patrols to undertake specific pioneering construction

What to Bring

  • Full Scout Uniform (please wear to the event)

  • Mess kit (plate, bowl/cup, and eating utensils)
  • Hat and sunscreen
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Closed shoes/boots

Activities

Scouts

Scouts will participate in a range of pioneering and camping activities, including:

  • Patrol tent setup
  • Dining fly setup
  • Camp gadget construction
  • Flagpole/flag break construction
  • Knots and lashings
  • General pioneering projects and teamwork challenges

These activities will support Bushcraft Levels 1–3 and Stage 4/5 Pioneering badgework.

Venturers

Venturers will take part in a separate watch tower building activity focused on advanced pioneering skills, teamwork, and leadership, supporting Stage 6 and 7 Pioneering badgework.
