The Scuba Discovery will be conducted by SDI scuba diving instructor Lisa McCallum.
This try dive is not a certification course, but an opportunity to try scuba diving in a pool. If you love it and want to do more, we can organise a day for you to try diving in open water at a local beach (maximum 2 participants).
We will meet at Mayfield Pool at 1pm, Sunday 6 February.
You will be given a dive safety briefing before we get in the water. To ensure the safety of all participants, there will be a maximum of 6 participants trying scuba diving at a time. Those not diving are free to swim/play in the pool. Mayfield Pool is a heated pool and a maximum depth of 3m.
Prior to attending the activity you must complete an e-learning module. Lisa will email you the code once registrations have closed. Once codes have been issued, no refund will be available.
You should bring:
Swim wear & towel
Wet shoes or wetsuit boots
Rashie or t-shirt to swim in
If you have them, you may also bring:
Mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit
Some additional paperwork needs to be signed by participants (aged 18+, under 18 need parents signature):
1)Liability Release
2)Medical
Depending on your answers to the questions on the medical form, you may need to get a doctors approval before you can dive. Your GP may be able to do this for you, alternatively, Dr Allan Kirkpatrick (Doc) is a Scout leader and diving doctor and may be able to help you with this. His contact details are: Dr Allan Kirkpatrick, Cardiff General Practice, Harrison St, Cardiff phone (02) 4903 9000.
