Introduction
This activity is during the July school holidays.
This hike is based in Mount Victoria and is a loop of around 13 km. There is a choice of two campsites located at Mount York and Hartley Vale. Both campsites have toilets and road access. The route is made up of easy bush tracks, firetrails and road easement. There are a number of historical features and scenic lookouts.
The highlights of this journey include Mount York Lookout and the section through Hartley Vale Village. Please bring some money for afternoon tea on Saturday.
The descent into Hartley Vale on Coxs Road is a little rocky in places but is very suitable for entry level. The ascent to Mount Victoria on Lawsons Long Alley is a very pleasant short climb on an open track.
We intend to try and make it to the campsite "Lockyers Trackhead Camping Area" located on Hartley Vale Road on Friday night. The trackhead is located midway between Hartley Vale and Collits Inn on a sealed road.
Route
Mount Victoria Station to Lockers Trackhead Camping Area via Mount York Road, Bardens Lookout, Mount York Lookout and Coxs Road then return via Hartley Vale Village, Collits Inn and Lawsons Long Alley.
Partial attendance is available. Scouts, Venturers and family members can join us at the campsite on Friday night or Saturday morning.
Public transport is available to and from the venue.
There are no costs except for self catering and transport to and from the event.
