Brief Summary:
This activity is aimed at completing the activity elements for Trained Participant Snorkelling and for Basic Water Rescues. For youth members, there may be the opportunity to complete the in-water components for stages 4 to 6 of the lifesaving stream of Aquatics There is a pre-requisite that any participant be able to swim 200 metres unaided Note : To attain Trained Participant in Snorkelling, the core units need to be completed
Additional Information

This is an assessment activity for those wishing to attain Basic Water Rescues; this will allow leaders to take their youth members swimming at unpatrolled flatwater environments and for youth members to complete components of the OAS Stages. This can be used towards completing units towards a Cert II in Outdoor Recreation / Cert III in Outdoor Leadership

This will also cover snorkelling to help complete requirements to be able to take youth snorkelling

Please note that for those wishing to complete the snorkel component will need to provide snorkel, mask, fins and ( recommended ) a wetsuit. You will also need to complete a short e-learning component before the practical day

For the basic water rescues, no special equipment is required
