Brief Summary:
This event is designed to cover aspects of the Four OAS area of Bushcraft, Survival, Pioneering and Camping. It is conducted for Greater Western Sydney Venturers to assist in the progressive toward Peak Awards.
Additional Information

The camp is designed to assist individuals in their OAS Terrain progress towards a Peak Award if so desired. You will be expected to have an understanding of the components listed below and have discussed each with your unit prior to attending. If you are not famialr with the requirements details can be obtain from Outdoor Advanture Skills Progression Booklet, from Terrian and from your Venturer Leaders. 

If you have completed some of the activities and wish to attend, you will be require to complete all sections as part of a Patrol. A key activity will require your Patrol to construct a survival shelter and remain in it overnight.   

 

Survival (Shelter Building) 

  1. Participants to complete an overnight camp Saturday night in and under a self-made survival shelter. Location is away from Scheyville buildings in bushland with adults supervising nearby for safety.  

  1. Lighting a fire as an individual. 

Bushcraft 

  1. Knot tying. 

  1. Star identification for night navigation. 

Pioneering 

  1. Lashing during construction project. 

  1. 5m flag pole construction as a group. 

Camping  

  1. Knot tying for a Camp 

  1. Perform a camp “Activity” 

  1. Pitching a Troop/Bell Tent as a group.
